The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned that he and his loyalists within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will not be exploited as instruments in the ongoing internal disputes rocking the party.
According to Valid9jablog News, Wike stressed the importance of adhering to established processes within the PDP, urging the party to return to due procedure amid tensions that have threatened to fragment its ranks. He made it clear that attempts to leverage his influence or that of his supporters for political negotiation or personal gain would be firmly resisted.
The FCT Minister’s statement underscores his growing role as a key figure in the PDP and reflects mounting concerns about the party’s internal cohesion ahead of future political contests. Party members have in recent months faced accusations of bypassing democratic norms, leading to disputes over leadership and decision-making processes.
By calling for a return to due process, Wike appears determined to assert both his influence and his commitment to institutional order within the party, signaling that he will not entertain attempts to manipulate internal PDP dynamics for short-term advantage.
The PDP, Nigeria’s main opposition party, continues to grapple with internal disagreements that have drawn national attention, making the adherence to procedural fairness a critical factor in its unity and public credibility. Wike’s intervention, therefore, could play a pivotal role in shaping the party’s direction in the months ahead.
