Apapa Customs Command Records N304 Billion in October Revenue Drive

The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, under the leadership of Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, has reported a remarkable revenue haul for the month of October, generating N304 billion, according to the command’s Public Relations Officer, Tunde Ayagbalo.

The revenue drive, which forms part of a major strategic initiative to enhance customs efficiency and improve government revenue, reflects the command’s commitment to strengthening border security while facilitating trade. Officials noted that the campaign involved rigorous monitoring of import and export activities, stricter enforcement of duty compliance, and streamlined processes for legitimate traders.

Speaking on the achievement, PR Officer Tunde Ayagbalo emphasized the significance of the figure, stating that the revenue collected marks one of the highest in recent years and underscores the command’s proactive approach to fiscal responsibility. “This is a clear demonstration of the command’s dedication to ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficiency in all its operations,” Ayagbalo said.

The Apapa Command, one of Nigeria’s busiest ports, has historically been a major revenue-generating hub for the Customs Service, and this latest performance is expected to bolster federal government coffers significantly. Analysts have attributed the success to enhanced risk management strategies, adoption of modern monitoring technologies, and closer collaboration with other government agencies.

As the drive continues, stakeholders, including traders and shipping agents, are being urged to comply with customs regulations to maintain the momentum of growth while ensuring smooth cargo movement through the port. The command has also reassured the public of its commitment to a business-friendly environment that balances revenue generation with trade facilitation.

Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba’s leadership appears to be setting a new benchmark for efficiency and accountability within the Nigeria Customs Service, with October’s figures providing a promising outlook for subsequent months.
